Applicants must meet four criteria to be eligible for WIC: - Reside in Washington (US citizenship is NOT required to participate in WIC). - Be a pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding woman, or have an infant or child under 5 years old. - Household income less than 185% of the Federal Poverty Level. - Have a nutritional risk (assessed at time of appointment).

Provides nutrition and breastfeeding counseling, checks for nutritious foods, and assistance with referrals to needed services for low-income women, infants and children. WIC food benefits average around $60 per family, depending on family size and ages of the children. Weighs and measure infants and children and gives a hemoglobin test to check iron status. Offers classes and one-on-one counseling to help moms get breastfeeding off to a good start. Can give or loan a manual or electric breast pump depending upon the situation.
